As founder and owner of Utt Construction Company, Paul brings over 23 years of experience and expertise in all aspects of capital project delivery including project management, construction management, design management, estimating, scheduling, procurement, design/build delivery, safety and project planning/programming. His successful execution of multiple specialized projects for clients who include Merck, Becton Dickinson, bioMerieux, GlaxoSmithKline, Proctor & Gamble, Conagra, Amerisource Bergen and BASF have created long term trust and ongoing relationships with these and many other clients. Recognition for his accomplishments in the industry include The International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers Special Award of Merit for a Plant Modernization and Expansion project for Biolex.

Paul’s credits much of his knowledge in the industry to the talented teams he worked with at O’Neal Constructors where he spent 8 years as a Vice President overseeing design-build projects which ranged in value up to $150MM. Prior to O’Neal, Paul gained valuable experience at Flour Daniel while holding positions in Construction Management, Project Management, Design Management, Procurement, Project Controls, Lump Sum Estimating and Marketing delivering projects throughout the US.

Paul attended Wake Forest University’s Babcock School of Management where he earned a Master’s degree in Business Management. While there as the Duke Power Scholar and as a recipient of a Babcock Scholarship he received the Outstanding Achievement in Finance Award and a Babcock Award for overall achievement. He also attended North Carolina State University as the William H. Simpson Scholar and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering. He is also a graduate of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

With the same commitment to his family and community, Paul supports Saint Mary’s School, Christ Church, and numerous youth basketball team where he has coached for the 15 years. His hobbies include time with family, tennis, basketball and golf. Paul lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife and 3 children.
